Every year the Alumni Service Core brings back recent alumni to help the campus by teaching, substituting, and facilitating trips, and this year they all have their own goals.

Assistant Principal of Ministry Mr. Paul Fisko works with the ASC as the head of the Office of Faith and Justice.

“To come back and be a model for students, to come back and run programs that are very student centered,” Mr. Fisko said of the program’s goal. “Then to, of course, gain some practical, professional knowledge.”

This year’s alumni are Gabe Campbell ’10, Karl Heiland ’10, Brok Kloeber ’10, Cooper Davis ’10, and Jonathan Londono ’10.

While they all work out of the Office of Faith and Justice, they each do separate things around campus.

Londono teaches the religion classes for sixth and seventh grades at Loyola Academy and is also facilitating the Kino Border Initiative immersion trip.

“It’s been a challenge…I like challenges,” Londono said. “I’ve been able to kind of use everything I’ve learned in college.”

His goal for the year is to be a good teacher.

“My main goal is to be able to effective in the classroom,” Londono said. “Make sure the kids are getting a good experience.”

Heiland is teaching western civilization and philosophy to Brophy students.

“It’s been a lot of fun so far,” Heiland said. “I feel like I’m a sophomore again, relearning the details of western civ.”

Heiland said he wants to make students “question their values”.

“I’d like to blow some minds in Philosophy,” Heiland said. “Make people really doubt their existence … all sorts of things like that.”

Campbell said he wanted to serve his high school, but also enjoyed the fact he was close to his family.

“It be a really good opportunity … come back and serve my high school and be near my family,” Campbell said.

Campbell looks to have fun and start new activities.

“I’m just hoping to have fun,” Campbell said. “Get an ultimate (frisbee) team going, help the Loyola guys out in Cross Country.”

Brok Kloeber works out of Loyola Academy. He teaches P.E., is a tutor, and is also a freshman football coach.

Cooper Davis also works out of Loyola. He teaches humanities, P.E., and is also tutor.
