SPECIAL TO THE ROUNDUP

Each year since 1990, members of Brophy’s sophomore class have spent the month of June tutoring a collection of Phoenician children as a part of the Summer Loyola Project.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. each day, mentors work with small groups of LP campers to learn math, reading, and writing, as well as to participate in game time, snack time, and weekly “water days.”

As Brophy notes on its website, the goal of Loyola Project is not only to educate campers, but to provide Brophy students with “the opportunity to build mentoring relationships with kids in the community.”
