Robotics team creates mechanized miracles

Heavy beats were blasting from the stereo as students were busy boring holes through metal, programming the latest codes and piloting a large robot around the room.

Meeting nearly every day on the second floor of Loyola Hall, the robotics team is hard at work preparing new robots for upcoming events.

With the guidance of Mr. Andy Mazzolini and other Brophy faculty members, the students use power tools to craft new parts, constantly improving their robots.

The Roundup: Inside the newsroom

While the Roundup remains a monthly publication, the staff (consisting of Journalism I and Photojournalism courses and a group of contributors) is busy issue to issue providing Brophy with its award-winning student newspaper.

The writing and editing process does occupy a good chunk of this time, but once all the content is ready for print, the staff designs the the actual paper over a few class periods and what we call “Late Night Layout.”

What goes into putting together a Brophy production?
There is much more to it than most theatre-goers may notice. From set-building to long practices to opening night preparations and cast parties; Brophy productions are full of continued excitement.
What may be perceived as a simple scene is comprised of several actors, singers, dancers, musicians, sound and light managers, makeup artists, directors, painters and hours of practice.

Caffeinated Competition

Anyone who takes a few short steps off of Brophy’s campus is well within sight of three different coffee shops: Dutch Bros. Coffee, Lux Coffee Bar and Lola Coffee.

With the addition of the Copper Star Coffee on 7th Avenue, north of Indian School Road, there is a nearby abundance of caffeinated products for even the most die hard Bronco coffee lover.

I asked this question to students for the last two weeks, 50 students to be exact, and the responses came in all forms. The most common wishes were for super powers, time machines and improving humanity.
