Draw Something app gaining popularity

By Andrew J. Barnes ’12
THE ROUNDUP

Are you looking for an extremely addicting smartphone app that allows you to be creative?

The newest app to swarm teenagers’ and adults’ alike smartphones, Draw Something, is just that, as it is a game where players use their creativity to draw pictures of specific themes, people and places to earn points.

The app, much like the game of Pictionary, is very similar to charades but involves drawing instead of acting out the subject.

As you start out playing, you are only able to use a limited amount of colors: black, yellow, red and blue.

Color packs can be purchased once the player is able to save up enough points.

These packs include most of the colors you can think of, even containing different shades of various colors.

For example, I recently bought the “Ice Cream” color pack, which included different shades of brown, white and pink.

I find this game very convenient for those times when you need to kill some time, like if you are sitting at a bench waiting for a friend to come by.

A fun part about this game is that it is a process of guessing what a drawing is and then returning the favor.

When an opponent plays you back, it gives you the option to watch them try to guess your drawing, which can be highly amusing depending on how well you drew.

You then have to guess their drawing, which can also be entertaining based on what they had to draw.

This game, although very gratifying, can be very distracting because of how addicting it is.

What makes it so addicting is that you can play with anyone that has a smartphone and can connect with them via Facebook or user names.

Many times I will get a notification on my phone from Draw Something while doing homework and my attention turns immediately to the game.

It does tend to get the best of me at times because of its fun nature, but it is a very witty game to play.

I know that whenever I play it, I feel “drawsome,” which is the word you get every time you guess someone’s drawing correctly.

Although it can be distracting, I encourage everyone to play this game because hey, it’s drawsome.
