THE ROUNDUP

On Sept. 10-11, the Brophy golf team traveled to Maricopa at Southern Dunes Golf Club to compete against teams from around the country in a 36-hole tournament.

On the first day of the tournament, the Bronco golfers putted well as they closed out with a team score of six under par.

The Broncos were led by Chris Petefish ’14 who went five under par 67 and David Lowe ’11 who shot a four under par 68, according to an e-mail from head coach Mr. Jon Shores.

Other contributors to the team were Mason Smith ’11, Tyler Kertson ’13 and Jordan Smith ’11.

Due to Petefish attending the freshman retreat, the Broncos had to play the second day of the tournament without him.

Blake Toolan ’13 took Petefish’s spot on the roster.

On day two, Lowe had the lowest score for Brophy with another four under par 68. This time the Broncos posted a four over par team total.

Brophy finished the tournament in third place with a score of 574.

They ended six strokes behind first place Syracuse High from Utah (568) and three strokes behind second place Trinity Christian Academy from Texas (571).

However, the team also finished first place over all Arizona high-school teams in the tournament.

Lowe’s 36-hole total score at eight under par gave him a three-way tie for second place in the individual’s category, according to Mr. Shores.
