The Broncos’ put up a season-high 52 points and held their opponent to a season-low three points Friday, Oct. 26, leading to a blowout victory over Dobson..

Players and coaches celebrated on the sidelines after the last home game of the year, taking pictures and talking with friends and family.

This was an important win for the team as “it keeps the playoffs totally possible,” according to head coach Mr. Scooter Molander.

The score was just 3-0 at the end of the first quarter, but Brophy went on to score 35 points in the second quarter and 14 more in the second half.

Senior quarterback Brian Woodward ’14 had his best game of the season, tossing four touchdowns and going 14-19 passing for 219 yards. He also ran for 44 yards.

Isaiah Oliver ’15 was on the receiving end of two of those touchdowns throws, coming from 10 and 15 yards out. He finished with five catches for 53 yards on the night.

The running game was also heavily involved as Ryan Velez ’16 ran for 126 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

“I’m really proud of our offense,” Mr. Molander said. “You know it’s a good night when you only punt the ball one time.”

They were just as successful on defense, as they held Dobson to under 200 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers.

“Coach Galante (defensive coordinator) put a great game plan together and our kids executed well and communicated,” Mr. Molander said.

Woodward, Oliver and Jack Kerkorian ’14 each had an interception and a Dobson fumble on a kick return was recovered by the Brophy special teams. The offense was able to capitalize on all four of these turnovers with touchdowns.

Brophy’s next game will be at Desert Vista Friday, Nov 1.

“I’m really proud and happy for our seniors on senior night,” Mr. Molander said. “I believe if we can play well and win next week we’ll make the playoffs.”
