Brophy Sports



Football

Brophy welcomes any freshman who would like to participate in the freshmanprogram. Since there are no cuts, size dictates two divisions within the freshman program — Red division and White division. It is one team, however, that works together to train and support one another as they lay the foundation for a future varsity program.




Baseball

Brophy advanced to the AIA 6A State Championships as the No. 11 seed. The Broncos opened up the postseason against No. 6 Chandler (L, 11-1), defeated No. 14 Mountain View, Mesa (W, 5-3), and were eliminated by No. 2 Alhambra (L, 8-2).
Brophy finished second overall in the Premier Region with a 6-2 record to post a 9-9 regular season mark.
Pitcher JD DeCremer ‘23 and catcher Henry Chabot ‘22 both earned All-Premier Region first team honors.




Soccer

Brophy Soccer is one of the state’s most successful soccer programs with a rich history of producing collegiate athletes and great individuals. The program has won eight State Titles, the most recent being the past three seasons. The program is committed to developing Student-level Athletes to compete athletically at the highest Mentor them strive to be lifetime learners in the classroom and on the field, to be outstanding citizens on-campus and off .




Basketball

The Brophy Basketball program includes three teams (varsity, junior varsity, and freshman). All players who are considering trying out for basketball during their freshman year are encouraged to participate in the summer basketball program where students can learn to play the sport and grow on and off the court.




Lacrosse

Brophy lacrosse is a spring sport and has a varsity team, and JVA and JVB teams. There is no experience required for our JV teams. The JV season begins with practice and there are no tryouts or cuts. Varsity and JV practice times will generally fall in the 5-8 p.m. time window Monday through Friday. Varsity will ordinarily practice on Saturday mornings.




Swim and Dive

Brophy’s Swim and Dive team has won 32 consecutive state titles. With its great tradition rooted in perseverance, integrity, and academics, it is the longest streak by any high school team in the United States.





Cross Country

Brophy Cross Country engages in long-distance running and participates in meets at the varsity, junior varsity and freshman levels.





Wrestling

Brophy Wrestling participates in four tournaments per year including contests in Winslow and Prescott. A robust dual meet season compliments the tournament schedule. The penultimate event, the sectionals, determines state qualifiers.





Tennis

Brophy Tennis offers varsity and junior varsity levels of competition. Freshmen are welcome to try out for the Freshman or Varsity team.





Track and Field

Brophy Track and Field is a multifaceted sport with Broncos competing in sprints, jumps, throws, hurdles and distance events. The team typically has over 150 boys competing annually, and has a long tradition of team state championships and individual/relay state champions.





Golf

Brophy Golf is a varsity-only sport and fields a team of about 12 players, of all grade levels. The top 5 players typically post scores that are below 75 with the team’s better players posting scores of par or better.





Volleyball

Since its inception, Brophy’s program has maintained its focus on excellence on and off the court. Almost all varsity players play club volleyball in the summer and fall, but there are multi-sport athletes who are not club players on the varsity team.





Archery

Brophy/Xavier’s archery season formally begins with an Experience Brophy Archery training event in mid-September and concludes with the State Championship tournament in late February/early March. Brophy Archery has two seasons; a Fall season and a Competitive season in the Winter/Spring.





Mountain Biking

Brophy participates in the Arizona Scholastic Cycling League and competes in five races during the season. Preparing for these races includes time on the trail, in the weight room and in spin class.





Crew

Brophy Crew is a no-cut sport at Brophy and no experience is required. Dues cover everything during the year except uniforms. Crew is a year-round sport but athletes can choose to participate during just the fall or spring semester if they are participating in a second sport.





Rugby

Brophy Rugby is a sport with a unique culture, traditions and values that separate it from any other sport you have ever played. The 7-Man Rugby season is November–December and the 15-man Rugby is from January–April.





Hockey

Brophy Hockey is a club winter sport that starts in August and goes through February. Brophy typically has two teams, Varsity and JV. The teams are open to all grade levels. They are seeking student-athletes with a positive attitude and a commitment to learn and play hockey.





eSports

Brophy eSports was added to the sports offerings at Brophy and other high schools around the state beginning with the 2019-20 school year. The AIA hosts two seasons of esports — one in the fall and one in the spring. The games selected by the AIA are Rocket League, League of Legends and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which run each season.
