Brophy (21-7) overcame a 58 point explosion by Jahii Carson March 3 in the semifinals vs. Mesa (21-6) and is one win away from capturing their first ever basketball championship.
“We’re looking to hang a banner in the gym,” said James Harper ’12, who led Brophy with 21 points, “We worked hard all season long and it’s going to pay off tomorrow.”
The Broncos countered Carson and Mesa with offensive sparks of their own.
The Hamilton Huskies shut out Brophy in a 27-0 loss Oct. 22, the first time the Broncos have not scored a point since they last played Hamilton in Chandler.
On their first possession, Brophy went three-and-out that led to a 25-yard Hamilton field goal with 7:33 left in the first quarter.
Brophy’s best drive of the night, 52 yards, was stopped by a missed 34-yard field goal by Zac Bryan ’12 with 11:15 to go in the half.
