THE ROUNDUP

With the school shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, members of the class of 2020 have had their second semester of senior year taken from them. In an effort to give their peers a proper close to their high school years, some seniors are making special projects to commemorate the class of 2020.

Brophy senior Mason Warner ’20 is encouraging members of the class of 2020 to find their favorite moments from highschool and send them to him so he can make a large senior video.

“I had seen posts online of seniors making videos, but none of them were that great, and I have experience in video production so I thought I’d use that to make one of these videos for Brophy seniors,” Warner said.

Close friend of Warner and senior Michael Valentine ’20 explains that this idea of making a video for the seniors to reflect on is something they will cherish. “Mason is taking his talents to make something memorable for the seniors at a moment in time where not much feels that memorable,” Valentine said.

Warner is not the only senior taking action. Among many special events that have been cancelled, one that seniors especially enjoy is college t-shirt day where they can wear a t-shirt from the college they will be attending.

In lieu of college t-shirt day Ryan Coury ’20 has made an Instagram account that features seniors and where they will be attending school in the fall.

“I saw that there was a similar account being run by Xavier students and I figured ‘why not make one for Brophy’ and so from there I got the account started and decided to see where it goes,” Coury said.

The account fills the gap of the t-shirt day allowing students a space where they can go to see where their friends will be going to school and what they will be studying.

“I think I speak for all the seniors when I say it’s really nice to have something where we can go and see where all of our friends have decided to spend the next four years,” Valentine said.

While seniors express that they would much rather be having a normal end to their highschool years, they are still making the best of what is given to them. “Even though we are not on campus we are still finding ways to celebrate and communicate with each other, and that is just very cool to me,” Coury said.
