Basketball 3 and 3, drop close game against North

The Broncos won three of their first five contests in December and are sitting at 3-3 as of Jan. 6.

They started off with a big win against the Gilbert Tigers 49-38, and followed it up three days later with another double digit win against the Highland Hawks 54-30.

Their next game against Salpointe went into double overtime and ended in a 61-58 loss. The Salpointe Catholic Lancers are ranked No. 13 on maxpreps.com as of Jan. 3.

Broncos survive Gilbert’s 3rd quarter surge

Sai Tummala ’11 and Chris Pierre ’11 led the Brophy Broncos with a combined 33 points as they defeated the Gilbert Tigers 49-38 Tuesday, Dec. 1.

Tummala ended with 17 points and 12 rebounds. He also went 10 for 11 on free throws.

Pierre finished with 16 points and three rebounds. He only missed three of his 11 free throws in the game.

Basketball shoots for performance, not ranking in new year

The Brophy Varsity basketball team is looking towards a bright future.

At the end of the last season, the team was ranked 12th in the 5A-I division, and 21st in the state, but coach Mr. Tony Fuller is not concerned about how they finished the season, rather how they played.

Last season the team defended well, despite turning the ball over too much and not making enough shots from the field.
