‘Battle: LA’ takes aim at high thrills, engaging plot

2nd Lt. William Martinez (Ramón Rodríguez) and his platoon of Marines will travel to the location of the mysterious meteorites that crashed all over the world in the new movie “Battle: LA.”

Although “Battle: LA” was full of enough action and explosions to keep me entertained, it seemed too long because I could already guess the outcome.

I often find the need for new words because my 7,000 word vocabulary gets repeated every day and I’m tired of not having some new and exciting things to say.

In search of some new words I stumbled upon Savethewords.org.

The website’s home page entices the user with a whole page covered in words each of which are endangered of going extinct as an official term.

More than 700 commit to the gift of life in organ drive

Brophy students had the opportunity to sign up and become an organ donor at Brophy in early December in honor of Robby Mayasich ’10.
The organ drive was hosted by DonateLifeAZ and anyone at Brophy or in the Phoenix community was eligible to register themselves to become a donor. More than 700 people did just that.

Now that 2010 has nearly ended, it is time to reflect on events that have stood out to us.

2010 has been a year full of strife and togetherness, even in the wake of tragedy that has had its impact on our community and the world.

In the beginning of the year, two earthquakes destroyed towns and cities in Haiti and in Chile killing more than 300,000 combined.

Devastation strikes twice in Haiti

Haiti has been slowly recovering from the earthquake in early January that left more than 300,000 people dead.

Now only nine months from this event, cholera finds its way to Haiti.

Cholera has killed nearly 300 people and has infected approximately 4,000 people within the past few weeks of its discovery, according to MSNBC.

“The cholera bacteria that originated in Haiti is similar to what has been found in Southwestern Asia,” according to SIFY News.
