Brophy traveled Friday, Sept. 23 to face the 3-2 North Canyon Rattlers, a Division I/Section III opponent, where the Bronco offense set the tone early en route to a 45-7 victory.
Devon Allen ’13 returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a score and just minutes later Marche Dennard ’13 ran the ball for a 13-yard score, making the game 14-0.

Thanks to a 40-0 lead at halftime, the Broncos’ first and second string players all contributed to a 50-0 shutout win against the Sandra Day O’ Connor Eagles Friday, Sept. 16 at Phoenix College.
“It’s about us getting better, and we did,” said head coach Mr. Scooter Molander of the performance of the entire team.
The Bronco offense portrayed another productive week as they scored 45 points Friday, Sept. 2 off of six touchdowns (three rushing, three passing) and a 31-yard field goal.
After the first two weeks, quarterback Tyler Bruggman ’13 has a total of six touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Devon Allen ’13, Fred Gammage ’12, Matt Auran ’13, Andrew Simon ’12 and D’ Amani Grayer ’13 have all recorded a touchdown in the first two games.
Last week against Mountain Ridge on Aug. 26, the Brophy football team witnessed its defense shut down Mountain Ridge 32-0.
In their second game against Boulder Creek Sept. 2 at Phoenix College, the Broncos’ defense did not shut out the Jaguars, but made key stops to maintain the lead all game, contributing to a 45-33 win.
“You are going to have success sometimes, and you’re not going to have success every time,” said head coach Mr. Scooter Molander of the Bronco defense the first two games. “I’m proud of our kids for bouncing back. They (Boulder Creek) got the momentum a little bit there for a while, and we kept coming. I’m very proud of that.”
What goes into putting together a Brophy production?
There is much more to it than most theatre-goers may notice. From set-building to long practices to opening night preparations and cast parties; Brophy productions are full of continued excitement.
What may be perceived as a simple scene is comprised of several actors, singers, dancers, musicians, sound and light managers, makeup artists, directors, painters and hours of practice.
