The alternative rock band Vampire Weekend is back with another album that changes things up from the past.

Opening to critical acclaim, the third album from the band has been given a plethora of high ratings from the media such as Rolling Stone and Spin.

“All of this might sound like a band in a third-album funk, except that Vampire Weekend have gotten better at just about everything they do,” Rolling Stone said.,

“Modern Vampires of the City“, features a great set of 12 songs ranging from different genres.

Each song tends to sound very different.

“Finger Back” and “Unbelievers” have the upbeat tempo the band is known for. These songs have happy tones and will have you singing along in no time.

“Step” and “Obvious Bicycle” slow things down for once in the band’s career. They have a much softer and more relaxing sound to them.

There is even a little reggae in “Ya Hey”.

The tempos isn’t all that has changed though. The album strays away from the Cape Cod and other pointless references that the band likes to throw in most of their songs.

This pattern has been on both their first and second album.

Now they actually have hidden meanings like in “Ya Hey”, which talks about the burning bush story from the Old Testament.

The band first formed in 2006 as a group of college friends with similar interests. In 2007 the band’s song “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” was 67 on Rolling Stone’s top 100.

From a small college band to being a big Internet star they quickly became popular, and Overall the band has matured and added to their sound with out changing everything they are known for.

The band has made another stellar album that will have you listening to it for months on end.

Whether you loved their high upbeat tunes from the past or wanted something new, “Modern Vampires of the City” will have something for you.

This album is possibly the best they have made and deserves to be listened by all, and it earns an 8 out of 10.
