Flik Hospitality Group has been providing culinary services for the Brophy community since Jan. 3rd, 2024 after Brophy decided to get out of the food game.
Coming back from winter break last year, people experienced a lot of change in different areas, including getting used to new schedules and getting ready for the long trudge to the end of the year. Along with those, Brophy introduced a new food provider: Flik.
“We weren’t equipped to run this restaurant in a professional, effective way,” said food service and facilities director Mrs. Missy Grams, “[Flik] are professionals at providing high-quality affordable meals for growing teenage boys.”
Having an outside company come in and run the Corral has allowed food to be produced more effectively. One of the reasons that Brophy chose Flik was because of its success in other Jesuit schools across the country such as Belen Jesuit, Creighton Prep and Rockhurst.
Flik set out to feed Brophy students at the lowest cost possible and with a healthy variety of food. “A meal and drink from the Corral costs $7.50 while a 6-piece chicken nugget Happy Meal is $9.19,” said Mrs. Grams.
Flik also caters to the many events the Brophy hosts.
“Most days of the week there is something in addition, whether it’s feeding the football team or the Jesuits that live nearby they are always doing something in addition to feeding the students,” said Mrs. Grams.
When Flik came in, they wanted to improve the biodegradability of the Corrals packaging.
“One of the largest changes has been including the Corral within the school’s sustainability initiatives,” said Flik head at Brophy Mrs. Brittany Rodriguez.
They have done this by making sure that all Corral packaged food is packaged in biodegradable materials.
Additionally, Justin Hernandez ’27 says that “the chicken is way crispier.”
Other students have also voiced their opinions about the corral.
“For the seven dollar food it has a nice variety” although “pricing is an issue, 7.50 for a bowl of food” said Christian Porras ’26.
From making sure that all Corral packaging is biodegradable to having fresh cooking every day, Mrs. Grams said “They have followed through with everything in that way.”
Ms. Brittany Rodriguez says “we are happy to continue being part of this community and building relationships within it.”
