M1 is a sports training facility whose impact on Brophy athletes can be felt on and off the court.
M1 has worked directly with the basketball and baseball teams for the past three years and with Brophy athletes outside of school for several years. The impact has reverberated through the students and their positive experiences with them.
Co-owner Mik Hrabczuk, who works as the speed and strength coach for the basketball program, strives to help the team “be durable enough to last the season without any injuries, increase their vertical, and increase their speed so they can be better basketball players.”
Working with athletes for the past couple of years has allowed the trainers to grow a greater connection with the athletes and see their progress.
Hrabczuk said that he has seen great progress with the players while he has worked with them even saying that “last year was the first year the entire Brophy roster was able to dunk a basketball.”
Bringing outside help into our speed and strength programs allows athletes to experience different ways to train and improve their game.
JV basketball player Michael Quan’s ’27 experience with the program has been challenging but positive in multiple ways.
Quan says, “While working with them my vertical has definitely improved and my overall endurance has come a long way, allowing me to have enough stamina to play my best through a long basketball game.”
M1 helps our basketball and baseball athletes achieve a higher level of performance in their respective sports by pushing athletes to continuously work on improving their skills and mentalities.
