The Issue: Occupy Wall Street protesters are advocating against corporate greed and the increasing divide between the rich and poor.
Our Stance: The protesters are justified in their demonstrations; however, they fail to realize the entire scope of the problem, and are somewhat hypocritical in what they choose to fight against.

The Issue: Upperclassmen seem to be disappearing from football games and conventional forms of school spirit.
Our Stance: These same individuals are expressing their spirit in different ways.

The issue: Liberal gun control laws in Arizona endanger the public’s safety.
Our stance: Lawmakers must reevaluate state gun control laws.
The shooting at a Tucson Safeway Saturday, Jan. 18 was a wake up call for state lawmakers.
Six people were killed and a total of 13 people were injured in the attack, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who remains in stable condition as of The Roundup print deadline of Feb. 22, and is currently recovering from a gunshot to the head.
Not only was the shooting tragic and devastating, but it was also a much needed wake-up call that Arizona gun control laws are simply too lax and need to be adjusted.
Currently, the state constitution reads: “The right of the individual citizen to bear arms in defense of himself or the State shall not be impaired.”
The issue: The annual Summit on Human Dignity hits campus.
Our stance: The Summit creates enlightened individuals who are educated about the problems of today’s world.
As the Summit dawns upon the Brophy population once again, it seems as if holding these two week long focuses is just a normal fact of school life.
In actuality, a closer look shows this is something incredibly special, and almost no other high school hosts such a yearly event.
This is something that makes Brophy different. Not only is it a unique event, but it contributes to making Brophy students more enlightened individuals.
Looking around campus all semester, students have been sporting new, controversial “I heart boobies!” wristbands.
These are from the “I heart boobies!” campaign by The Keep A Breast Foundation, a non-profit organization created to raise breast cancer awareness among youth.
Schools nationwide from California to Florida have banned the bracelets because they believe the word “boobies” is inappropriate for their halls, according to a CBS News article.

Whether you believe the idea behind Senate Bill 1070, Arizona’s attempt at immigration reform, is right, it does not provide the necessary solution for the current immigration issue in our state.
The bill is tied up in legal courts and will likely be for years.
In the meantime, even if it was the best option the law does nothing for the people of Arizona and leaves the issue of illegal immigration without a viable solution.
We need something to solve the issue of illegal immigration now.
