Cade Knox ’16 made the decision to continue his football career at Harvard University, and gave his verbal commitment to the school Aug 5.

Knox, who is rated as a two-star recruit by numerous recruiting sites, said he chose the Crimson over offers from Tulane, Fresno State, Bowling Green and UNLV.

He threw for 2,306 yards and 24 touchdowns his junior season, per MaxPreps, while leading the Broncos to a 10-4 record and the state semi-finals game, where they fell to Hamilton.

“The education is unparalleled, and I went on a visit over the summer, and I really liked the campus and the city of Boston,” Knox said about Harvard.
That Harvard is one of the most prestigious colleges in the world wasn’t the only reason Knox committed.

“The education was the first thing I looked at … but really the decision was based on the football team, and I felt that they took it seriously enough,” he said.

Harvard is coming off of a perfect 10-0 season, including an Ivy League title and its eighth straight win against rival Yale.

“It’s one of the biggest traditions at the school … it’s definitely a huge game and they take it really seriously up there,” Knox said when asked about the rivalry game against Yale.

Another aspect that Knox said was important was the relationship that he had with the coaches at Harvard, like their quarterbacks coach, offensive coordinator and especially head coach Tim Murphy.

“I spent a lot of time with all three of them, probably the most time with the head coach. We talked a lot and had a lot of meetings. He’s a great guy.”

When asked about about Knox’s decision to go to Harvard as well as his maturation from his junior to senior season, Brophy head football coach Mr. Scooter Molander had nothing but positive things to say about his quarterback.

“I’m really excited about his decision to go to Harvard … He’s the complete package when it comes to leadership, intelligence, the ability to throw the ball on the run.”

Knox also said that while he is still talking with coaches, he is firmly committed to Harvard, and that now he is focused on his senior season and leading Brophy to its first state title since 2007.
