Brophy and Xavier track and field coach Freddie Crittenden placed 4th in the 110m hurdles at the 2023 World Athletic Championships. Crittenden cruised to the finals placing first in his heat in the semifinals and second in his heat in the quarterfinals. He achieved two of his top three performances of the season, running in 13.17 seconds in the semifinal and 13.16 seconds in the final.

Freddie Crittenden is a part time assistant coach for the Brophy and Xavier track and field teams. He primarily helps out with the 110m and 300m hurdles events. He also coaches at the Phoenix Youth Track Club, which includes many Brophy and Xavier students.

Crittenden started training at Brophy when he joined his coach Tim O’Neil and other runners Jared Eaton and Devon Allen ‘13. They trained together to get ready for big competitions, such as the World Athletic Championships and the Olympics.

Crittenden is currently ranked as the third best runner in the U.S. and fourth in the world at the 110m hurdles. He recently had a season best time of 13.15 seconds and placed sixth in the 110m hurdles final at the prestigious Diamond League final.

Freddie Crittenden had been practicing for the World Athletic Championships since last winter. During that time he was extremely busy with his training, coaching, and work with his nonprofit organization. Crittenden plans to continue training for big competitions in the future.
