Swimmers compete June 25-July1

Recent Brophy graduates Mike Nelson ’12 and Chris Webb ’12 will compete for a spot on the United States Olympic Swim Team in Omaha, Neb. from June 25 to July 2.
Top swimmers from across the country are invited to participate in the week long meet.
Nelson, who won student athlete of the year as a senior, will compete in the 100 breaststroke and time trialing the 200 breaststroke.
“I’ve never felt more prepared in my life,” Nelson said. “Both mentally and physically.”
He will swim Monday, June 25 and Wednesday June 27.
Chris Webb, who won the 2012 High School Boys Swimmer of the Year Award, will compete
in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle and 1500 freestyle.
IM stands for Individual Medley, a race that consists of ¼ freestyle, ¼ butterfly, ¼ breaststroke and ¼ backstroke.
Webb will swim June 25, 26, 28, 30, and July 1.
“I feel extremely well prepared, more prepared than I’ve felt in my life for any meet,” Webb said.
The trials will be broadcasted online and on TV via NBC and NBC Sports.
Nelson will be swimming for the University of Iowa next year and Webb will compete for the University of Virginia.

Both boys sound very “prepared”, and are proudly representing both Brophy and Phoenix swimming. Very nice story.
