THE ROUNDUP
The Broncos walked off the court Friday Nov. 30 with grins on their faces after beating Westwind Prep by 40 points.
One night after their first loss of the season and giving up 79 points, the Broncos turned the tables.
Westwood shot 26 percent on 11 of 42 for the game.
“It was big, it was a big confidence boost,” said Max Kufel ’15. “We were pretty low last night, we were playing horrible perimeter defense and they were making everything.
Kufel finished with 18 points, five rebounds, five steals and shot 50 percent from the field.
Following a 37 point 11 rebound performance the night before, Tim Kempton ’13 put up 16 points, seven rebounds, four blocks and two assists, going six for 10 from the field and four for four from the free throw line.
“We moved the ball and got other people involved,” said head coach Mr. Tony Fuller. “Tim was fabulous in that after coming off last nights game where he scored all the points and we lost, he took it upon himself to move the ball and get it to his teammates and spread the wealth and we were able to get a win.”
No player scored more than 10 points against Horizon other than Kempton, but on Friday night three players were in double digits.
Other starters Conor Triplet ’14 and Kevin Nabong ’13 helped lead the team with Triplet scoring 17 points, seven rebounds, shooting six for ten from the free throw line and four for nine from the field and Kevin Nabong scoring four points and four assists.
However, the starters were not the only contributors.
“The bench was awesome,” Mr. Fuller said. “Romano Botinni ’14 came in and gave us a lift, and Michael Nabong ’14 came in and gave us a lift, Steven Stanley ’14 had eight points, everyone got a chance to play. Coming off last night it was a great night for the Broncos.”
