THE ROUNDUP
American Hustle – Starring Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper
9 out of 10
Great costumes, outstanding acting and an amazing soundtrack is what makes “American Hustle” one of the best movies of the year.
Irving Rosenfeld, played by Christian Bale, is a con artist.
Upon meeting and falling in love with Sydney Prosser, played by Amy Adams, he takes her into the con game.
They become rich and very good at their craft until they run into FBI agent Richie DiMaso, played by Bradley Cooper.
He catches Sydney and gives her and Irving an ultimatum: catch politicians accepting bribes or go to jail.
They specifically go for Carmine Polito, played byJeremy Renner .
They accept the offer and what ensues is a funny, dramatic movie that keeps you wanting more.
Jennifer Lawrence and Louis C.K. have smaller roles that are hilarious and make you wish they were in it more.
The costumes and acting are what really stand out.
The costumes fit perfectly for the late 1970s time period of the movie and are a nice feature to look for.
The greatest feature by far is the acting.
Adams pretends to no longer like Bale and pretends to fall for Cooper. She is very convincing throughout the movie, making audience members forget its all a ploy.
Bale plays his character perfectly.
He does his Bronx accent perfectly.
Cooper is funny and intense in his role as a cop.
However the movie isn’t perfect
“American Hustle” has only one flaw.
The story moves quickly and can get a little confusing.
They start throwing in plot points that aren’t explained very well, which can make the movie not as enjoyable.
Overall “American Hustle” is an amazing film that will be a top contender for awards
It earns a 9 out of 10.
