Desert Vista 43

THE ROUNDUP
The offensive prowess of the Phoenix Suns of old seemed to rub off on the Brophy basketball team at U.S. Airways Center Feb. 8.
The Broncos exploded early en route to a 67-43 win over the Desert Vista Thunder.
Sai Tummala ’11 led the charge for the Broncos, scoring a team-high 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Brophy jumped out to an early lead and held an 18-4 advantage at the end of the first quarter. Tummala sunk two three-point shots in the opening frame to spark the Broncos offensively.
Head coach Mr. Tony Fuller said the team played good defense and knocked down some great shots in the game’s early stages that were key to building that lead.
The Thunder scored 16 points in the second quarter and at halftime, Brophy led 34-20.
Brophy scored 19 points in the third quarter to build a 22-point cushion heading into the fourth quarter.
Mr. Fuller called the team’s play aggressive to start the second half and said that the foul trouble Desert Vista found itself in helped the Broncos.
Fred Gammage ’12 chipped in 16 points and Chris Pierre ’11 scored nine to go along with five rebounds and two steals.
Jordan Medl ’12 scored 10 and pulled down three rebounds while James Harper ’12 scored nine points and recorded six rebounds.
