This season, Brophy has acquired a new hockey coach and he is looking to create a better hockey program. Head coach Mr. Michael Grams is very hopeful for what this season will bring.

Mr. Grams has played hockey in youth, high school, college and men’s leagues and with this experience, team members such as Connor Pitts ’21 has faith in him to lead them on to a State Championship. Mr. Grams has been playing hockey for over 30 years and has been coaching on and off for over 10 years.

Coach Grams is taking us in the right direction with the right attitude,” said Nick Thomson ’19. “It’s a process to learn a new coach’s likes and dislikes, but I think our team is growing very quickly with him and I think that will prove to be helpful later on in the season,” continued Thomson.

Last year, the hockey team finished with nine wins, 10 losses and one tie in the regular season and the Broncos are hoping to turn it around this year. Thomson is hoping that this year, everyone plays to their fullest potential and can help improve upon last year’s record.

Brophy has added many freshmen to their varsity roster this year. “It will be different having a lot of freshmen on the team,” said Pitts, as one of only two freshmen on the varsity team last year. Pitts is optimistic about the outcome of the season. Mr. Grams said he is making it a point this season to try to keep the freshmen healthy so they could grow and become better at the sport.

According to Pitts, the Brophy Broncos hockey team has improved a lot this offseason. They practiced a lot and gained team chemistry.

Mr. Grams said, “They will not be satisfied with anything less than a championship run.”
