Quayle introduces obscure political tactics

By Alex Stanley ’12
THE ROUNDUP

Is Ben Quayle trying to be as controversial as possible just to get votes?

His television and Internet advertisements sure make it seem that way.

All of his controversial irrationalities seem to be working, as I can’t leave my neighborhood without seeing a couple “Quayle Congress” signs in front yards.

I remember seeing a Ben Quayle advertisement a month or two ago, and I wondered if he was joking with the many faulty and radical claims. Here is the script, and why I thought it was a joke:

“Barack Obama is the worst president in history.”

How long ago was George W. Bush in office? Short memory, I guess.

“My generation will inherit a weakened country.”

Alright, back it up with some facts.

“Drug cartels in Mexico – tax cartels in D.C.”

Drug cartels are in Mexico, but weren’t we just talking about America? Plus, you say taxes are the only reason this country has been weakened, doesn’t more money for the government equal more power?

“What has happened to America?”

We should be more concerned about what you are planning to do to help the many real problems we have.

“I love Arizona”

Is that why you went to college in North Carolina and Tennessee, and worked in New York and California?

“I was raised right.”

By your father who had myriad misstatements as Vice-President, such as “The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation’s history. I mean in this century’s history. But we all lived in this century. I didn’t live in this century.” More at http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Dan_Quayle/.

“Somebody has to go to Washington, and knock the hell out of the place.”

Is that the only solution you have? Violence?

Controversy and radical statements are no way to win a political race.

It seems as if all Ben Quayle supporters know is that first line of his commercial, so they instantly connect the dots from disliking Obama to voting Quayle.

I challenge Arizonans to look deeper into this candidate, because a bit more research reveals what Ben Quayle does not.

For a good laugh, check out “Obama Facts” on Ben Quayle’s website at http://www.quayleforcongress.com/issues-2/obama-facts/.
