Chase Hendrix’s ’27 day starts 40 minutes before most of his peers’. The Brophy 12th grader commutes from the Boulder Creek area to school, then works most weeknights and weekends at Walmart. “It’s [the commute is] worth it for the education and my faith overall,” said Hendrix.

Hendrix is one of the Roundup’s newest staff writers and is coming in with limited writing experience. He went out for the soccer and tennis teams freshman year, but after not making them, he kept up with professional sports. He has a strong affinity for the paper’s sports journalism side. 

When asked about why he would consider going into a career such as sports journalism, Hendrix said, “I’ve always had a love for sports in general, and I’d love to have a career that involves something I’m passionate about.

Hendrix views his job at Walmart as valuable experience and as something that “gets me [him] out of my comfort zone.”

Apart from his work and school life, Hendrix has a deep faith relationship with God and Christianity. “It builds a structure and keeps me afloat whenever things are hard, or even when things are fine. It’s something to lean on all the time,” Hendrix said.

With all of this in mind, Hendrix deeply cares about his lasting legacy here at Brophy and would like to be remembered as “a kind person” and as someone who “tries to be a better man every day, serving God.”
