Last year’s 16-13 loss to the Knights broke the streak of seven consecutive wins for the Broncos. However, St. Mary’s consecutive win streak ended at one after the Broncos’ 63-0 victory Oct. 14.

The 63-point victory is also the highest margin of win for the Broncos throughout every game in the rivalry.

Broncos approach new season with young core

The 2010 season for the Brophy football team saw changes to their starting quarterback and running back position among others, a rash of season-ending injuries to key players and the adoption of a spread offense.

In 2011, the Broncos will attempt to grow in their second year in the new offensive scheme while welcoming back numerous starters who bring experience to a young group.

Desert Vista’s big fourth quarter too much for Brophy

Leading the majority of the game, the Brophy basketball team was ready to celebrate their eighth victory of the season over the Desert Vista Thunder Jan. 21.

However, the fourth quarter arrived and the Thunder charged from 33 points to 55 points.

The Broncos fought to protect their lead with 17 fourth quarter points, but in the end Desert Vista’s 22-point quarter was enough for a comeback win 55-54.
