THE ROUNDUP
Coming off last season’s loss resulting in third place, the golf team has prepared during the off season to make this year a more successful one.
Head coach Mr. Jon Shores said that he believes that the team has to rely on support from other teammates
“In order for the team to have success, especially in the individual sport of golf, the guys really have to learn to work together, encourage one another, even if that means one plays better than the other,” Mr. Shores said.
“It is hard when guys play junior golf and they are on the course playing for themselves and their own personal pride,” he said.
“Now they are playing for themselves, their pride, but they are also playing for their teammates and for Brophy.”
Seniors Michael Feagles ’16 and Chip Getz ’16 said they are confident in both the upperclassmen leadership of the team and the new talent coming in this season.
“We will be able to build off the leadership from our seniors. With four returning seniors we will need to be leaders and role models for the younger players,” Feagles said.
“If we are able to accomplish that, we will become closer as a team and work together to achieve all of our goal,” he said
Getz is also confident that the new freshmen will make the team stronger overall.
“We have a lot of talented freshman who will compete to play this year. The team will be in good shape even after our seniors leave this year,” Getz said.
He also said that all of the teammates have played in competitive tournaments throughout the summer and that they have all gotten better physically and mentally.
