Opinion: Music is alive

Music is currently having another golden period in artists and innovation. With the rise of rap and R&B as the most popular genres in music today, many incredible artists have surfaced.

In just the last few decades artists like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Logic, SZA, Adele, and Rihanna have all risen to be music royalty.

They all have brought something new and unique to the table as well. Each one of them has changed music in their own right.

Adele showed that R&B and soul music still sells and brought the genre back into the spotlight.

Eminem and Kendrick Lamar showed that rap wasn’t just a genre about bragging and riches.

All of these artists have ushered in the new era of music, weather that be through the way they sound or what they sing about.

But that isn’t the only reason that music is in a golden period. In the past few years music streaming services have made the discovery of new artists incredibly easy.

These services have also made it massively easier to listen to and download music. Most music today isn’t physical, it’s almost all digital.

Platforms like SoundCloud, YouTube, and Spotify impacted music positively and ina huge way.

Anyone can make music and put it up on YouTube or SoundCloud for people to listen to. These platforms have even started some artists careers.

For example, Alissa Cara started out making music and putting it on YouTube. Today she is singing with performers like Khalid and Logic.

So many more incredible artists are able to be heard now because of these platforms. People who enjoy music are never at a loss for new artists.

You can always find something new and enjoyable without much work.

Music is having a great rise in the way it’s consumed and who makes it. It’s easier to listen to and find new music and artists now than it ever has been. This is a great time to be making and listening to music. It’s easy to see why music is alive and well.
