AI is becoming more and more prevalent in our everyday lives. Everybody is using it, students for notes, teachers for lesson plans, and even medical professionals. AI is the way of the future in all walks of life.
AI has seemingly found its way into every job industry in some way, the next being the medical field. AI in the medical field is currently being used to organize files, take notes, and record patient information.
One worry about AI is that it will replace the jobs of workers, however, according to an interview with Mr. Chris White, “People not using AI will be passed by people utilizing it.”. The reason AI is being used by everyone is because it makes everything easier in the workplace. Teachers are using it to create lesson plans, grade papers, and essays, and improve presentation skills. According to the AAMC, AI is saving doctors an average of 2-7 minutes per patient and 50% less time spent on documentation. Doctors spend an average of 15 and a half hours a week on documentation and notes. This means that the use of AI can save almost 8 hours of work each week. A doctor using AI will be much more efficient than a doctor not using it. AI will not take jobs, but people using AI will.
Not only is AI being used for notes and documentation but it is also being used to detect rare diseases and diagnoses that doctors may have missed. There are spots on MRIs and x-rays that the human eye is unable to detect. AI is being used to detect changes and patterns that can be extremely helpful to a patient.
AI is the way of the future and as we continue to advance, we can expect many more uses of AI in the medical field.
