While many students may have taken time off over the summer to relax, The Roundup was still active bringing you updates on summer movies, Brophy’s track team’s success at the Nike National tournament and summer immersion trips and debuting several new online blogs.
Over the summer The Roundup also debuted two new online blogs: My Two Cents and The Bronco Beat.
My Two Cents is an opinion column giving The Roundup writers a voice on current local, national and global issues. News Editor Rohan Andresen ’12 was the first post to this blog with a post about his experiences on the Puebla immersion trip this summer.
Andresen also covered the Van’s Warped Tour concert that hit Phoenix in late June.
The Bronco Beat is a sports blog that follows Brophy sports teams, while allowing the writer opportunity to give personal observations and analysis on teams’ success and failure.
The Bronco Beat was swiftly put into action as The Roundup followed the Brophy track team’s success at the Nike National Track Tournament in Eugene, Ore., where the team finished in eighth place.
Entertainment editor Sean Harris ’11 spent time throughout the summer months reviewing several of the summer’s top films on The Roundup’s movie blog: A Man and His Movies.
The list of summer hits he reviewed include: “Inception,” “The Last Airbender,” “The Karate Kid,” and “Toy Story 3,” along with a review of “Grown Ups” by Ian Beck ’12.
Another feature of The Roundup’s summer reporting is the El Salvador blog written by Roundup reporter Ulises Araiza ’11, who blogged about his immersion trip to South America.
