OCD Moosh & Twist ‘live it up’ on the East Coast

By Tyler J. Scott ’12

Lately the high school music audience has been hit with a new age of hip-hop and rap music including the likes of Wiz Khalifa or Mac Miller.

Like these two progressive artists, the hip-hop music collective OCD is from Pennsylvania, reining from Philadelphia.

OCD’s members include DeQuincy “Moosh” McRae and Oliver “Twist” Feighan.

“Moosh & Twist are 17 years old with dreams to change the game in a positive way,” according to their Facebook and YouTube pages.

Moosh is a senior at Haverford Senior High School and Twist at Friends Select School.

They have released one mix-tape called “Never Never Land” but their real hits have been singles.

Their biggest songs “Live It Up” and “Wake Up” have more than 43,000 and 25,000 views on YouTube respectively.

OCD’s sound is unique to them, Moosh’s style is very smooth and easy on the ears while Twist’s is rougher and more engaged.

Moosh’s verses get you caught in the song and then Twist comes in with a different sound.

Twist’s verses are more lyrical and hard-hitting, which compliments Moosh’s style perfectly.

They feature the drummer Darrell Robinson from the group N.E.R.D. in their song “Live It Up.”

His constant rhythm in the background of the song really makes for a great beat.

Robinson’s beat combined with Moosh and Twist’s complimenting lyrical styles makes this rap duo special.

Their unique, dynamic approach to hip-hop has allowed them to gain recognition on the East Coast.

Recently, their sounds have attracted other up-and-coming rappers from the East Coast as well.

OCD recently shared the stage with Mac Miller and Tayyib Ali, another promising hip-hop artist.

Their new mix-tape, “Up Before the World,” is expected to drop in late December or early January.
