2012 films poised to be year of everlasting superheroes

This year in movies looks to be full of action-packed, non-stop, adrenaline pumping entertainment.

2012 contains many superhero sequels and remakes that will soon be hitting theaters.

The year will begin with Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds starring in the crime-thriller “Safe House.”

The movie depicts of how a young CIA agent’s (Reynolds) day can go from bad to worse in a split second when he is forced to protect a captured fugitive (Washington) from gun-wielding enemies.

“Safe House” will premiere Feb. 10.

Following up its predecessor, “Ghost Rider,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” will have Nicolas Cage reprise his role as Johnny Blaze. The movie is set to be released Feb. 17.

Continuing onto March 23, the much anticipated “Hunger Games” will premiere.

The movie is based on the book written by Suzanne Collins and it is about a boy and girl who have just won the lottery in a totalitarian society, which entails fighting for their survival on live television.

On May 4, superheroes Thor, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow and Hawkeye will join forces in Marvel’s much anticipated superhero blockbuster “The Avengers.”

From the man who you brought “Borat,” Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest comedic movie, “The Dictator,” focuses on the heroic tale of a general who makes sure democracy never enters his country.

Also due out in May is the third installment in the “Men in Black” trilogy. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be back to reprise their roles as Agent J (Smith) and Agent K (Jones).

Agent J is sent back to the 1960s when Agent K was first taking part in the newly developed Men in Black federal agency. It is Agent J’s task to stop an alien from killing Agent K.

For all the horror and sci-fi fans “Alien” franchise, creator Ridley Scott is back at it again with his new film “Prometheus,” which is sure to give you a good scare.

A team of explorers are sent to the darkest depths of our universe to find the origins of mankind on Earth. But, in the process, they soon find themselves fighting for survival of mankind itself.

“Prometheus” is due out June 8.

Forthcoming on July 6, the Spider-Man series will be rebooted by director Marc Webb.

The movie is entitled “The Amazing Spider-Man” and it will star Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man.

The reboot will feature an entire new cast along with a new and mysterious villain.

Seven years ago director Christopher Nolan introduced the dark side of Batman with “Batman Begins.” Three years later he showed us how evil and corrupt the Joker could be with “The Dark Knight.” Now on July 20 the Batman trilogy will end with “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Premiering Aug. 3 are “The Bourne Legacy” and “Total Recall.”

“The Bourne Legacy” will focus on a new perspective of CIA operative Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner).

“Total Recall” 2012 will be the remake of the classic 1990 film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

On Aug. 17 “The Expendables 2” will feature the original action superstar cast and there will be a few new characters added such as the great Chuck Norris.

Crashing into a theater near on Nov. 9 is 007’s latest film, “Skyfall.” Daniel Craig is set to be back as the enticing and heroic James Bond.

To wrap up the year, on Dec. 21 Brad Pitt will star in the apocalypse horror movie “World War Z.” The movie is based on the novel written by Max Brooks and will feature man-kind fighting for survival in the everlasting war against the flesh eating zombies.
