‘Men in Black 3’ worth the 10 year wait

By P. Erik Meyer

“Men in Black 3” debuted May 25 and is a clear improvement over the second film released in 2002.

Although it seemed to diehard MiB fans that the film was taking forever to make, the 10 year wait was worth it.

The film is set in two different periods, present day and the late 1960s.

Although there are still the main characters of the past films, there is also an influx of new characters never before seen in the previous “Men in Blacks”

Agent K, typically played by Tommy Lee Jones, is replaced by a much younger Josh Brolin when Agent J ventures into the past.

Brolin does an impeccable job of acting as a younger Agent K, nailing all of Jones mannerisms from his speech to his classic stare.

Will Smith still as Agent J, must go back in time to the ’60s in order to save Agent K, but as he travels back in time he learns of K’s true impact on his life.

No longer do we see the quirky Zed, played by Rip Torn, as the leader of MiB. Instead he is replaced by Agent O, played by Emma Thompson, in the present and Alice Eve in the 60s.

Throughout the film, there is subtle humor that involves past films as well as popular personalities such as Andy Warhol.

“Men in Black 3” is arguably the best film of the series.

A feel good ending awaits the viewers of “Men in Black 3” and the audience will leave the theatre with some great laughs and a desire to see it again.

There have been rumors floating around the internet about the possibility of a fourth “Men in Black” starring Will Smith and his son, however the end of “Men in Black 3” would leave fans content because it closed all loose ends and doubts that the other films left open.
