THE ROUNDUP
Tim Kempton ’13 scored 37 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Thursday Nov. 29 at Horizon High School.
“It was a good individual performance, but basketball is a team game,” said head coach Mr. Tony Fuller. “Great players make their teams better, they carry their team to great heights.”
Despite Kempton’s performance the team lost by 13, 79-66.
“He had a good game, but we can’t be a one man team, we have to move the ball,” Mr. Fuller said.
This is the team’s first loss of the season.
“Obviously we came up short as a team,” Kempton said. “We didn’t play up to the standards that we set for ourselves.”
The Broncos kept the game close throughout the first half, trailing by two at halftime.
The Huskies took a nine point lead by the end of the third quarter thanks to a barrage of three pointers by Horizon’s guards.
Midway in the fourth, the Broncos closed the deficit to six, using a full court press to force Horizon into turnovers.
Max Kufel ’13, Conor Triplett ’14 and Romano Bottini ’14 forced multiple turnovers late in the fourth.
Kufel finished with 10 points, two rebounds and three blocks, Triplett scored six points with four rebounds and two steals and Bottini had eight points, one rebound and one assist.
However, the turnover recoveries were all for not as the Broncos turned the ball back over, missed layups and fouled the Huskies when they recovered the ball.
The Broncos will take the court for the third time this week against Westwood on Friday at home.
“Well get some rest tonight, watch film at break and lunch and look forward to Westwood,” Kempton said of looking toward the game slated for Nov. 30.
