Fr. Edward A. Reese, S.J., who dedicated more than six decades to Jesuit education and leadership, passed away on Aug. 2, 2025, at age 82 after a brief battle with cancer. Known for his pioneering vision, Fr. Reese transformed schools across the Jesuits West Province, from Bellarmine and Brophy to St. Ignatius, where he introduced technology in classrooms, expanded access for underserved students and led ambitious campus growth.

Capturing Life Through a Lens: The Story of Ocampo

By: Arturo Macias ’28 Anthony Ocampo Paramo ’26 is recognized for his contributions to media at Brophy. “I’m a photographer here at Brophy,” he proudly says as the main Roundup photo editor. But what he does goes far beyond his camera. To become a soccer manager this year is his goal, and in addition to playing rugby, he wants to keep a close eye on the soccer pitch. When he was asked to describe himself, he used three words: “charismatic, strong, and amiable,” which just goes to show how adaptable he is as a person and student. Ocampos’ story is very much shaped by how he grew up and the family that has been around him. From his long hours, he became very close to his older sister and learned the importance of making the moments count with the people around him. Ocampo has learned to “always remember where I’m from,” after going through some tough losses in his life, like his father. He has learned to stay strong, and not just that, but also to keep his morals strong. He uses photography as an outlet to make others feel seen through his camera, and not just that, but also to give the hidden moments a light. The strong dedication and work ethic of Ocampo comes from the memory of his father’s dedication and drive. Ocampo says that he remembers, “On some days, he was working, so I didn’t see him all day.” Seeing his father and how long and hard he worked, Ocampo tries to model his work ethic at school and behind the camera after his father. He says, “After all the work he’s put in, I kind of owe it to him.” Ocampos’ future goals include working with local teams in Arizona, as well as wanting the opportunity to photograph his favorite team, Chelsea FC. Ocampo acknowledges how hard the loss of his father was and how it has shaped him into the man he is today. As he starts his final year at Brophy, he plans to end his tenure here by cherishing his time with friends and family.
