THE ROUNDUP
The Brophy rugby team is focusing in on the state championship hoping to renew last year’s state title.
Rugby player Peter Robles ’20 highlights the importance of collaboration and as a way to reach that goal.
“Our goal as a team is to shoot for the state championship again. We are doing swell as a team with a 2-1 record. All of this was done through hard work and love for one another. We always strive to do our best and create a sense of unity within the team,” said Robles.
Fellow player Louis Sisbarro ’20 emphasizes the need for communication as a way to work out any areas of lack within the team.
“This year’s been going really well. We only lost one game right now,” said Sisbarro. “We are doing really well. Our chemistry is good. We could work on better communication, going to practice, just working on getting little kinks worked out,” said Sisbarro ’20.
This notion is echoed by Andrew Atenica ’19 saying that communication is key to success.
“Working together being able to pass the ball off smoothly and efficiently knowing each and everyone’s strengths. Making everyone talk, talk, were already good friends it’s just getting on the field and letting each other know what’s going on, so when passing the ball off you need to know what to say,” said Atenica.
Sisbarro brings attention to the hurdles and challenges the team will be facing throughout the remainder of the season.
“We are going for number 2. We are defending this year, and all the coaches and all the teams in the league all came together and declared us the best team in the state right now,” said Sisbarro.
Injury has also been a significant obstacle maintaining a stable winning streak.
“The biggest challenge is injury this season we had a couple guys get hurt two weeks ago and one won’t be returning, it’s a gap we need to fill,” said Sisbarro ’20.
