THE ROUNDUP
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brophy Open House will still carry on in person and will be able to provide a first look at Brophy’s campus for 8th graders while maintaining the AMDG protocols. The Open House will take place on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, from noon to 4 p.m.
“Brophy’s premier admission event is open to the public. In order to meet Brophy’s safety protocols that include masks and distancing, attendees must register in advance,” according to the Brophy Website. There will also be a limited number of people on campus at one time, by the use of a registration process, where families will sign up for time slots and receive a ticket with their tour time.
This year, unlike most years, cookies and refreshments, will not be available and students need to bring a refillable water bottle. The annual welcome talk by Principal Mr. Bob Ryan and Director of Admissions Mr. Mike Ward in the Black Box Theater will be a pre-recorded video sent out to the families.
“Join us to see the campus and gather information on academic programs, co-curricular activities, financial aid, transportation, and the admissions process. Attendees will have the opportunity to talk to students, faculty, administration, coaches, and parents,” according to the Brophy Website. Each family will get their own personal tour guide to help bring them around Brophy’s campus.
No presentations will be available, but the guides will be tasked with answering questions and informing families about the Brophy experience. Each guide will “need to know Brophy History and facts,” Mr. Ward said. Tour routes will be pre-developed for the guides to make sure all buildings are shown without the mixing of groups and traffic forming. There will be no group tours and no group presentations.
The Brophy Open House is an event to show off Brophy’s campus to families who are thinking about sending their son to Brophy and is a crucial part of the admissions process.
