Broncos to play Cesar Chavez May 4

After losing their final two regular season games, the No. 14 seeded Brophy Broncos lost Saturday, May 1 in the first round of the state playoffs to the No. 3 seed, the Hamilton Huskies, by a score of 6-4.
Brophy had beaten the Huskies in the regular season 15-10 on Friday, April 23 for head coach Mr. Tom Succow’s 600th win as Brophy head coach, but were unable to beat the Huskies again in the first round of the playoffs.
After the April 23 win, the Broncos lost their final two games, both to Desert Vista, losing 10-0 on Tuesday, April 27 and 7-1 on Wednesday, April 28, a game in which they were no-hit.
In the double-elimination format of the 5A-I State Tournament, Brophy will drop into the loser’s bracket and play No. 11 seed Cesar Chavez on Tuesday, May 4 at Cesar Chavez.
Cesar Chavez lost 12-2 in six innings to No. 6 seed Mountain Pointe Saturday.
