THE ROUNDUP
Football
Football finished their season 1-9. Mr. Scooter Molander has decided to step down from his head coach position after 13 seasons and two championships. Former NFL quarterback Mr. Jon Kitna will take over the program come fall.
Cross Country
The Cross Country team won state runner up for the third year in a row.
The team was led by seniors Drew Burns ’18 and Grant Smith ’18, as well as juniors Anekin Heitman ’19 and Zack Beall ’19.
Drew Burns ’18 finished 10th overall at the state meet.
Golf
Tony Hendricks ’19 and Nate Anderson ’19 lead the golf team to a second place finish in the state tournament. The team won runner-up for the second year in a row.
Swim
Swim had another successful undefeated season and finished with their 30th consecutive state title.
Swim waves farewell to Head Coach Mr. Pat O’Neil, who lead the team to 10 state titles. Mr. Daren Brubaker looks to take over as the new Head Coach come fall.
Hockey
The hockey team finished the year at 9-10-1, and with the fifth seed in the state tournament. They lost to Hamilton 3-2 in the quarterfinals.
Basketball
Basketball finished their season at an overall record of 26-2, led by seniors Jaxson Baker ’18 and Ian Burke ’18. As the first seed, the team lost to Mountain Pointe in the semifinals.
Burke was awarded All-Premier Region Player of the Year and Baker was 1st team all state at his position.
Soccer
Soccer finished their regular season undefeated and went into the playoffs ranked #1 in the nation. The Broncos lost 3-0 in the state championship to Desert Vista. UCSB commit Carter Clemmensen ’18 finished his high school career with 114 goals.
Wrestling
Senior Luke Jacobs ’18 placed second in the 160 pound weight class and senior Gabe de la Rocha ’18 finished third in the 180 pound weight class. As a team, the Broncos placed third in the Perry tournament and second in the Ironwood tournament.
Crew
The crew team has had a successful year, with several first place finishes at regattas, led by seniors Kyle Harrison ’18 and Jett Curley ’18.
Baseball
Baseball finished their season with a record of 12-15. This is their first year under new head coach Mr. Josh Garcia ’07. Baseball is seeded #18 heading into the playoffs and will play Horizon on April 25.
Lacrosse
Currently, lacrosse finished their season 7-5 by way of record under new head coach Mr. Zach Widbin. Senior Captain Jack Clark ’18 lead the team in scoring with 34 goals during regular season games. The team was seeding #6 heading to the playoffs and fell to Desert Vista in the first round.
Volleyball
Currently at a record of 20-11-1, the Brophy Volleyball team, led by seniors Nate Thompson ’18 and Conor Dunn ’18, prepares for another deep state title run after suffering a loss in the state semifinals a year ago.
Rugby
After a long absence, rugby made its return to Brophy sports. The rugby team ended the season with a Division 2 state championship
Track and Field
After a fifth place finish at the state meet last year, the track and field team looks to generate momentum as it approaches the state meet.
