Beau Wallace ’27 inherited the presidential duties of Brophy Social Golf Club from Ms. Highland Turby, the club moderator. As a leader of over 150 members, Wallace aims to make an impact by giving the Brophy community a healthy social outlet.

Wallace first got into golf through a family friend before getting hooked by seeing improvement day after day. This progress led to a deep love-hate relationship with golf. “… you kind of get addicted to it,” said Wallace.

While Wallace was in the club last year, he was not super involved in its meetings. Despite this, he has a close relationship with Ms. Turby and is grateful for her trust in his leadership.

Wallace wants to make the club as open and welcoming a place as possible. “The goal here is just to get as many people out and do as many outings as possible so we can keep having fun,” Wallace said.

A lot of these larger clubs have a problem with member engagement, much like with Wallace his junior year. As a leader, Wallace aims to help members feel more involved and include them in many decisions, such as where to play or the new club polo coming out through the varsity shop.

With the year ahead, Wallace wants to encourage even more members to join and reminds everyone that “It’s completely free to join” and “It’s open to anyone, no matter the skill level.”
