Brophy advanced to an 8-2 record following a three touchdown performance from Marche Dennard ’13in a Oct. 19 victory over Westwood at Phoenix College.
On the first drive of the Homecoming game, the Broncos marched down the field but failed to score after a fumble by Devon Allen ’13.
Allen redeemed himself the following drive with an elusive 44-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Allen gained more than 100 total yards through the air and the ground.
The Broncos scored four touchdowns in the first quarter.
Dennard scored on back-to-back touchdowns within minutes of each other and Tyler Bruggman ’13 connected with Matt Auran ’13 for a 55-yard touchdown pass.
The second quarter was much of the same.
Dominic Ritcitelli ’13 intercepted a pass within 20 yards of the goalline, which set up another Dennard touchdown.
Bruggman connected with Allen and Ryan Castellani ’14 for touchdowns of 13 yards and 43 yards respectively
Westwood scored for the first and only time with a touchdown off an 85-yard touchdown pass to bring the score to 42-7.
Before the end of the half, Will Edwards ’14 scored on a 45-yard touchdown run.
The Broncos let off the gas in the second half.
Near the end of the third quarter Aiden McCabe ’14 booted a 42-yard field goal for the only score from either team in the second half. The game ended with a final score of 59-7.
Notes:
- Andrew Curtis ’13, who usually starts at linebacker, successfully played offense, blocking and receiving the ball more than once.
- Matt Klein ’13 and Clarence Clark ’13 made multiple receptions throughout the game.
- McCabe’s 42-yard field goal was the longest of the season.
