THE ROUNDUP
With no seniors on this year’s state golf team, Brophy took third in the state golf tournament.
“This year’s team really exceeded my expectations,” said head coach Mr. John Shores.
Michael Feagles ’16, and Chip Getz ’16 were two players Mr. Shores said had particularly good seasons.
“Feagles was probably our most consistent player this year,” Mr. Shores said.
This team also showed unity compared to past year’s teams.
“This team will have a stronger, deeper unity as they mature before next year,” Mr. Shores said.
Feagles said the team was united.
“I’ve been on the team for three years now and I’ve never had a team that was this closely knit, especially our state team,” he said. “We were like brothers and not only did we want to play well for ourselves but for each other.”
The junior said as the golf team matures, they will be able to better handle the pressure of important tournaments.
“Next year we will all have one year under our belt, we are very talented and know we will be experienced,” Feagles said.
No players besides Feagles had played in state prior to this year.
