THE ROUNDUP
In the past few years, comedian Louis C.K. has been writing, directing and producing some great television.
His show, “Louie,” was a huge success through its five seasons and 61 episodes.
Very recently, C.K. put his new show called “Horace and Pete” on his website and it has gained much attention, and it is well deserved.
“Horace and Pete” is about two men named Horace, played by Louis C.K., and Pete, played by Steve Buscemi.
The two men run a bar that was passed down to them through their family tree.
Throughout each hour long episode, the show takes place either in the bar or in Horace and Pete’s apartment.
This style of filming makes each episode feel like a play, as characters enter and exit the bar throughout the show.
While this style is definitely unique, it is difficult to keep the show interesting throughout the episodes because of the virtually unchanging environment.
“Horace and Pete” gets around this problem with extremely captivating characters who all have unique stories to tell.
As the show goes on we see regular visitors to Horace and Pete’s bar.
This allows for multiple storylines that are all captivating in their own ways.
One of the best things about “Horace and Pete” is the way it touches on current social issues in the real world.
During the first episode, we see a conflict between Republican and Democratic characters.
This confrontation perfectly analyses the differences that these two American political parties have.
Because of scenes like this, the show has a real world impact, forcing people who watch it to open up their minds to other perspectives.
Besides the potential impact this show could have on its viewers, “Horace and Pete” is an impressive show that is very enjoyable to watch.
Every scene seems very realistic and has well written and directed characters.
The only problem with this show is that for many people, stories being told in a bar as opposed to actually seeing stories unfolding on the screen may not have enough entertainment value.
“Horace and Pete” is a well written and directed television show that touches on real world issues, but it may leave content to be desired.
