The most selective and smallest Brophy Varsity sport, the Brophy Golf Team is off and running in this year’s chase for the State Championship. Led by the likes of Dylan Boenning ’25 and Matthew Polachek ’26, this year’s squad is looking to live up to the historic accomplishments of past golf teams.
The Brophy Golf Team started the season with a thrilling one shot victory to win the annual Brophy Rodeo. Following this, they continued the success with a second place finish at the Brophy Invitational. Most recently, they performed at the Dobson Invitational, finishing fifth place there.
This year’s team has a brand new look following losses of last year’s key seniors: Henry Dall ’24 and Tyler Spielman ’24. Polachek touched on this, saying that while the losses hurt, they believe that the depth of this year’s team can make up for the big losses of last year.
Boenning also touched on the depth of the team, adding that this year he feels as though all of the guys have such great chemistry and that they are all good friends.
This chemistry could also stem from the team being younger this year. With only two headlining seniors, this team is the youngest it has been in Boenning’s four-year tenure. Boenning sees it as an opportunity to help pass along lessons learned from his previous senior teammates.
With a strong start to the season, the team and its leaders firmly believe that this is their year to win the State Championship title.
