One of the biggest event of BCP’s school year, by attendance, is on the horizon: The 2024 Fine Arts Extravaganza. The Fine Arts Extravaganza is an annual event that Brophy hosts towards the end of November to showcase arts and innovation through a variety of ways such as music, photography, art pieces, dance, and film to name a few. Recently, Brophy decided to combine the Fine Arts Department and Innovation department into one big department because creativity drives both.
This new department is being shown off this year at FAE.“Although it is the Fine Arts Extravaganza, it’s now [also] the Fine Arts and Innovation Extravaganza,” said Mr. Pete Burr ’07, Director of Student Activities and one of the primary overseers of FAE itself. Mr. Burr said that much of what students have seen at the FAE in the past will remain, but there might be some novelty to this year’s extravaganza. “I think you can expect to see a lot of the same energy and style, but a lot of new and different things…”, Mr. Burr said.
“The main [new] changes will be in the Great Hall with the Innovation and Arts department combining this year, we expect to be able to translate that directly into a visual spectacle…” said TC Collum ’26, one of the many student leaders behind FAE. Collum said, “Half of the Great Hall will be fine arts focused while the other half will be Innovation focused.” The oldies but goodies will be staying such as music, photography, painting, etc, but the Innovation addition will add more technology based things.
There are a lot of things to expect at this year’s FAE on the musical side, the usual and consistent stuff will still be around for the enjoyment of all who attend such as: bands, orchestra, solo performances, salsa, and XCP dance.“FAE is open and it’s waiting for families and friends,” said Collum. “It will be a really good night full of arts and innovation and celebrating the students’ creativity.”
