With the NFl draft clock ticking on April 21, 2025, Brophy alumnus Benjamin Morrison ’22 chose to come back to Brophy staging a private workout designed to elevate his position before the draft
Upon recovering from a season ending injury at Notre Dame, Morrison ’22 declared for the NFL draft after three seasons with the Fighting Irish. After a long career, from starting on Varsity at Brophy his sophomore year, to starting 9 of 13 games his freshman year at Notre Dame.
Since Morrison touched the field he has been a key part to a defence as shown by his stats: Coming out of Brophy Prep, 99 solo tackles, 35 assisted tackles, and 4 interceptions. Heading into the NFL Draft, 61 solo tackles, 33 assisted tackles. 9 interceptions, and 1 touchdown.
Morrison has grown from his start at Brophy to Notre Dame and onto the NFL. After recovering from his season ending injury his junior year, he opted to enter the draft instead of returning to Notre Dame for his senior year.
Upon returning from an injury, NFL scouts are wary of Morrison’s health as they are unsure if they are receiving the best version of him. “There’s no problems with either of them… so the hips aren’t an issue. I wanted to answer that question before the draft because I don’t want to leave it up to them,” Morrison answered.
He returned to Brophy to hold a workout in which more than 20 NFL scouts attended. As the draft approaches, Morrison stated “Three days before the draft, they see I can move and be healthy,” as an attempt to raise his draft stock.
The workout at Brophy was a success for Morrison and proved that despite an injury, he has recovered well and is ready to return to the field. Morrison is projected to be drafted in the 2nd and 3rd rounds of the NFL Draft being a key addition to any team’s defense.
