At the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, Brophy hired Mr. Gregory Abbott ‘18 as the new Director of Retreats for the Office of Faith and Justice.
Mr. Abbott came to fill the position this year after Mr. Steve Schillig ‘15 had left Brophy last year and he now oversees all of the retreats run by the OFJ.
When deciding which candidate to give the position to, the Assistant Principal for Ministry and Director of the Office of Faith and Justice Mr. Drew Rau ‘02 stated that he was looking for someone who had, “a depth of experience with retreats” and was “good at accompanying people”.
“I knew that through the types of work he did at Boston College, as well as the freshman breakaway program that he managed when he was an ASC member that he was capable”, Mr. Rau said.
Commenting on his familiarity and plans with the current retreats, Mr. Abbott said, “I am familiar, very familiar with, like the old ones, like Kairos and Magis. But there’s a lot of new stuff. For example, we’re in the process of revamping or redoing the Magis retreat”.
“My number one goal right now is just to really listen to what people are saying about the retreats to get feedback”, Mr. Abbott said.
