THE ROUNDUP
This past weekend, the Brophy League of Academic Contests competed in its first ever National History Bowl Competition in Washington, D.C.
Going into this competition Brophy was ranked No. 25 out of 186 teams; however, the team was listed as one of the eight “Teams to Watch” in the official program.
The varsity team was comprised of Rajet Vatsa ’14, Sahej Samra ’15, Kapil Kanagal ’15, Andrew Burke ’13, Pratap Jayaram ’13, Wesley Fullmer ’12, Connor Wareing ’15, Jordan Bruner ’13 and Nehal Samra ’13.
The competition had two parts, The Bowl and The Bee. The Bowl was the team competition and The Bee was the individual contest.
In addition to teams from the continental United States, History Bowl has also hosted teams from China, France and Guam.
Vatsa said that the competition was a huge success.
“The individual competition was also a great learning experience for Brophy competitors,” Vatsa said. “The whole team learned so much and is already excited to prepare for and perform even better next year.”
