Carson Ingram ’17 and Garrett Kelly ’17, created the Comic Club at the beginning of this school year.

According to Ingram, the Comic Club is home to a “small handful of people.” They meet every Tuesday at lunch in Mr. Jose Leyba’s ’94 room.

According to Ingram, the club’s purpose is to let people spend time with other comic book fans, and to discuss various comics, television shows about superheroes, and anything related to comics.

“Well, I wanted to spend time with other comic book lovers like myself to be able to see what they think of different comics that come out,” Ingram said when asked why he created the club. “I want to know why people like certain superheroes and the like.”

Ingram described the club as “laid back” and “open to all”, and he hopes that more people will join the club as more comics and movies are released.

Ingram has also described the club as a “hang-out for anyone who likes comics and superhero movies.”

Kelly, the co-founder of the club, said his sentiment is similar to Ingram’s regarding the goals of the club.

“Well, I think that a problem we’ve been seeing with Comic Club fans is that they don’t really appreciate the medium of the art,” Kelly said when asked about the goals of the club. “Comics are a very strange and unique way to portray a storyline, and it’s used very well by really great artists, and not a lot of appreciation is shown towards these artists. So, our goal is to show off a bit of the artistic side of comics.”

Ingram pointed out that the growth or the club will largely depend on the growth of new series and comics.

“It depends on the spread of how movies and comics grow. For instance, there is a new series coming out to help me spread it,” Ingram said.
