For the second year in a row The Roundup earned three best-in-state awards from two Arizona press organizations.
The Arizona Newspapers Association, the state’s professional journalism organization, named The Roundup the 2016 “Best High School Newspaper” in its annual contest co-sponsored by the Arizona Associated Press Managing Editors.
This is the fifth Best High School Newspaper award for The Roundup in the last six years. The staff won this award in 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2011 with a second place finish in 2014.
The Arizona Interscholastic Press Association, the state’s scholastic press organization, awarded The Roundup first place in its 2016 Newspaper General Excellence contest as well as first place in its 2016 Multimedia General Excellence contest.
The Roundup won both of these awards in 2015 as well. It is the fourth time in five years The Roundup earned the Multimedia first place honor.
In addition to these awards, the AIPA also honored The Roundup with 34 individual awards. Click here to see a list of the 2016 awards, which include honorable mention, excellent and superior ratings.
